About Night and Day Reptiles
Michael Swindell
I'm a former Marine, in my 30's and an aircraft mechanic. My dad got me hooked on snakes before I can remember. I got my first non-native snake when I was 17, a wc ball python, but I had to find him a home when I left for the Corps. When I got enough rank to move off of the base, I bought a Columbian boa. From there the collection grew. After I moved back to TX I joined the local herp society and in 2005 I volunteered at the local zoo. I mostly just cleaned cages there, but I learned a lot from those guys. I was lucky enough to meet a beautiful woman who shares all the same interests I do. And even luckier she decided to marry me! We've got a fairly diverse collection, but I think I'd like to concentrate more on Morelia species and Mandarins. My wife is a dog trainer and our dobermans are a big part of our lives.

Mary Swindell
A psychologist by profession, I started working as a dog trainer in graduate school to help fund my education, little did I know that I would come to love my job more than my profession! I now find that I use my degree more in my “new” job training people as well as training the dogs!
My primary focus in our lives is the care, training and showing of our Dobermans. My animal interests have always included reptiles, including a green iguana in high school, and now with our 4 legged herps, 2 Bearded Dragons and our Blue Tongued Skink. I am also the cultivator of our Blaptica dubia Colony, and harvest those to feed our growing collection of insect eating reptiles! Michael and I are fortunate to each enjoy and be involved with each other’s interests, though he does the majority of the work for our reptile collection.
